Diaphragm Wall

"The modern construction landscape is witnessing unprecedented growth, driven by innovative techniques and technologies. As the industry strives to meet the demands of go getting projects, it must also contend with challenging environmental conditions. Amidst this backdrop, diaphragm wall construction has emerged as a revolutionary technique, empowering professional engineers to design and build robust, durable, and deep foundations for buildings and infrastructure. This cutting-edge method has redefined the boundaries of construction, enabling the creation of complex and large-scale projects that were previously unimaginable."

A Diaphragm Wall, also known as slurry wall, is a construction technique that is most commonly used in Metropolitan & Urban demographic area to create deep foundation element to cater various purposes including providing support for excavations, controlling groundwater, and forming barriers for underground structures. They are commonly used for buildings, bridges, tunnels, underground structures & water – retaining structures.

The Construction process involves the following:

Excavation:A narrow trench is excavated into the ground using specialized excavation equipment, such as hydraulic grabs or clamshells. The trench’s depth can range from a few meters to over 50 meters, depending on the project’s requirements.
Slurry Wall Support: As the trench is excavated, a slurry made of bentonite or polymer is continuously pumped into the trench to prevent soil and groundwater from collapsing into the excavation. This slurry provides temporary support to the trench’s walls.

It offers various advantages in modern construction.
  • D Wall is suitable for the projects in densely populated urban areas or with the challenging Geological conditions.
  • It is capable of supporting heavy structures & lateral loads making them ideal for critical application.
  • It plays a vital role and act as an impermeable barriers, especially in water retaining structures.
